What kind of girl are you?

So…..Who’s your favorite?

It seems like an odd question. But for fans of the guys, it’s a common conversation. You meet someone, find out they are a fan and the first thing you want to know is who is YOUR favorite?

Recently I was introduced

“Sarah, this is my friend ________ she is a Jordan/Joe Girl…….Sarah is a Jon/Donnie Girl”

It’s a label, and we wear them proudly. Your favorite says a lot about your personality.

So I have been conflicted. My faves have been flip-flopping more than John McCain. I can’t help it.

Jon has been my favorite since I was a kid. None of my other friends agreed with me- which worked out well, because then we didn’t have to argue about who was going to marry who. I think Jon was always my fave because he was the shy one, and so was I. Everyone thought I was insane, I was the ONLY Jon girl I knew. Imagine my surprise when they reunite and Jon is one of the MOST popular NK?

Back then I was a Jon/Joe girl. And my best friend Heidi was a Donnie/Joe girl, I think. Her older sister was a Jordan girl…poor Danny.
So we decided I would marry Jon, Heidi would marry Donnie and we would have affairs with Joe….WTF? In fifth grade I was planning infidelity.

Donnie has turned my head a lot during this reunion. He is sincere with the fans. So appreciative that we are all still nut jobs, he loves it. And loves us, and doesn’t hesitate to show it. Hence the MANY pictures of him making out with fans. YES!

But I think I have decided (for this week, at least) I can’t stray from Jon. He has come out of his shell SO much this tour. It’s amazing. When they performed at the MOA he looked so unsure of himself and nervous. He even stepped back from one of the dances to compose himself. NOW, he is doing the butt and dancing on top of pianos.

And that makes me happy. Not to mention is blogs over at and just LOOK AT HIM!

So, tell me…..Who’s YOUR Favorite?

You don't get it.......

Most people don't get it. I understand. When I tell people I am going to the NKOTB concert, I get a tilted head and a raised eyebrow. When they find out I am going to 2 (was supposed to be 3) shows.....they honestly look a little concerned.

I can't blame them, they don't get it.

I am almost 30. I am a single mom living a very stressful life. As soon as this reunion was announced, it was like I was 13 job, no kid, no stress. I felt giddy for the first time in YEARS. I didn't realize how important it is to have something to be excited about. It has made every day move a little quicker and I regularly sing and dance in my house, car and at work. Much to the dismay of my co-workers and roommates. I am happy. This makes me happy. They make me happy. If you don't get it, I can't explain it to you.

I found this article today.

The writer explains it all perfectly.

No longer that New, but still so cool
It's more than nostalgia that'll have this 30-something fan singing and dancing at the show next week.
By Deirdre

When New Kids on the Block comes to Charlotte next week, I'll be there. And I'll be dancing. And screaming. And singing along.

I'm 38 years old … and I have no problem professing my love for Dannydonniejoeyjordanjon (what? as if you didn't refer to them in one breath).

There's really no reason to be ashamed of being a fan of New Kids on the Block, which reunited this year after almost a decade and a half apart. Don't believe me? Here are five reasons why it's perfectly OK – cool, even! – to show your face at the group's concert on Thursday.

1. They're still making music … and it's not bad. NKOTB's new album, “The Block,” has songs that are as good as anything else on the radio right now. And they'll probably play a bunch of them – so this is much more than just a nostalgia tour. Also, the guys are very aware of how lucky they are that the fans still want to see them. Donnie Wahlberg, the dude most responsible for getting the group back together, has said the enthusiastic response on the tour has touched him so much, he's cried.

2. They're still hot. The guys range in age from 35 to 40, and they are grown and sexy! Dannydonniejoeyjordanjon look so much better than they did 20 years ago, when “Please Don't Go Girl” made teen girls swoon. Back then the guys were harmless – rosy cheeks, razored haircuts, skinny limbs in baggy clothes. Now? They are men with toned, healthy bodies, sexy, slightly worn faces and eyes filled with knowledge. They have wives and kids. They have lived. These are people you can actually have a conversation with.

3. We're still hot. Just as time has made the guys so much better, it's done a fabulous number on their fans as well. Sure, we may not have the bodies we had when we were teenagers, but we also don't have the naïveté and all-or-nothing drama of that era. The confidence, knowledge and self-awareness that come with age have their appeal. And while we may reach for a hug or a quick butt pat, we would never snap and try to rip the guys' clothes off if they chose to sing “I'll Be Loving You (Forever)” straight to us.

4. It's a great reason to partay … on a school night, no less. When was the last time you and your friends got together, had dinner and drinks and acted like fools? We all need to do that sometimes, or we lose what makes us vital and fun. A concert featuring a band you and your pack o' pals have fond memories of is just the thing for making new memories. And it gives you an excuse to wear those new (fill in the blank) you bought, just because they were cute, on sale and you look smokin' hot in them.

And finally:

5. We can like whatever we want to like! Pop music isn't trying to make some huge statement about the world, or stop global warming. It's music that makes you feel good. It makes you smile. It makes you dance. It makes life's stresses fade into the background for a couple of minutes. And if you choose to like it, that's your business! Our taste in music is part of what makes us individuals. If you want to spend two hours with Dannydonniejoeyjordanjon, don't let anybody talk you out of it! And maybe I'll see you there.

I'm Sorry.....I Fare Thee Well......

I know, I SUCK at blogging. I promise to attempt to get better…..somewhere around December, hopefully.

Right now I am going to hijack my blog that is supposed to be about my wonderful son (who is doing GREAT BTW- I had my very first positive parent-teacher conference last week….who knew you weren’t supposed to cry at those things?).

This Blog is now becoming my NKOTB journal. I am doing this less for your benefit, and more for mine. I want an outlet to keep track of all the happenings just so I don’t forget. This kind of thing APPARENTLY only happens twice in a lifetime, and the first time I was too young to truly enjoy it.

Lemme back up……….

The New Kids On The Block Got Back Together!!

If you didn’t know that, or are rolling your eyes, get off my blog…….

Seriously……I mean it.

Tickets for this tour went on sale in May ……They had an American Express only pre-sale…..So of course, I applied, was approved and used said card to purchase my tickets. And then proceeded to dance down the aisles of the supermarket singing for about 2 hours. I was high on nkotb, what can I say?

Autumn, Danyal & I decided we would go to Vancouver, BC to make it a fun girls weekend. Danyal & I have a history with Vancouver, BC……it’s a love-hate thing. We wanted to go cheap. But even with the AmEx presale, an hour after tickets went on sale the best we could get were nosebleeds. WTH? So we decided to go not so cheap and ended up in Section 115 Row 8. YES!!!

Then we decided, we needed to go to Tacoma also. Danyal didn’t want to do both so Autumn & I got row 24 on the floor!

Then, it got out of hand………..

I had been keeping up on all their press appearances via a fan forum. BH4U!!!
And somehow, I got sucked into this 13 year old girl HYSTERIA that has surrounded these guys since day 1.

I have to say, I remember it……. I had the PJ’s, the sheets, my bedroom walls were completely covered with pictures I tore out of Bop and Tiger Beat, but I was 11 when they were cool and had to BEG my parents just to get nosebleed tickets for my birthday to the show at the Kingdome…..but this time around? So much better!
Yes, the guys are older, but so are we. And how creepy would it be for a bunch of 30 something mom’s to be screaming hysterically after a bunch of teeny boppers? So gross! And to be honest, the guys….only got sexier with age. We’ve already had nkotb parties, where we all watched their Today Show appearance and one for the live VH1 special and a CD release party. And this weekend is our strategy planning weekend.

They released their new CD in Sept and as anybody who has ridden in my car, been to my house or works near me. I have practically been listening to nothing else, it’s amazing. Maureen even told me the other day- She didn’t think anything could top Hangin’ Tough, but this CD is SO good, it’s at the top of my list! (as far as NK goes, of course)

So I had a little extra money (before the layoff) and decided….. what the hell. I have never met them, never even had the chance….so Autumn & I decided to get VIP tickets to Tacoma instead which includes a Meet & Greet. I sold my floor seats to Maureen & Rainbow. And just like that, Autumn & I were going to touch the New Kids!!!! Squeeeeeee!!!.

In the meantime, Missy was over her New Kids obsession…..she’s a mom now, things are different than 1990. She was going to go to Tacoma, but wasn’t interested in getting sucked back in.

HA! I showed her……

So we ended up buying tickets to 3 shows. It’s an illness, we can’t stop.

Missy’s friend Shana decided to fly up for the NK shows so they could re-live their teenage years together, just like the first time.

So this is the lineup for our NK weekend…….

Nov. 21st – Vancouver BC
Missy, Shana & I- 5* VIP
Autumn, Danyal & Maureen Section 115

Nov 22nd – Tacoma, WA
Missy, Maria, Shana, Autumn & I – 5* VIP
Maureen, Rainbow – Row 24

Nov 23rd – Portland, OR
Missy, Shana & I – 12th row floor

Then last week, the announcement that NKOTB will be performing on the AMA’s. YAY!!!!
It’s Nov 23rd So the Portland concert is cancelled BOO!!!

I’m not gonna lie, it hurt. I was upset.

But at least we still have Vancouver & Tacoma.

And the whisperings of a possible Summer Tour.

So the prep already started long ago. And with today marking exactly a month from our first concert, I thought I would get the blog going……

So there you have it, in a nut shell. I’m crazy, I’m a blockhead. But if you know me, you were already well aware.

If you want nothing to do with my NKOTB chronicles, please come back to my blog in December sometime when I am sure I will have plenty of David and Christmas updates to post.
